🌿 Protect Mount Kaʻala — Stop the “Kamananui Agribusiness” Expansion
An application (2025-MOD-55) was filed to expand the Kaukonahua Ranch “Kamananui Agribusiness” project in Waialua. The proposal includes gondolas, ziplines, and visitor facilities—yet it is being pushed forward as a “minor modification.”
This is not minor.
It threatens our rural roads, wildlife, and the last untouched slopes leading up to Mount Kaʻala. The area is home to native birds, rare plants, and culturally significant sites that could be permanently damaged by this development.
Our local infrastructure simply cannot support the additional traffic—crashes on Kaukonahua Road already happen far too often.

🕓 Update 12/1/25:
DPP has reopened the project’s permit for full reconsideration after identifying substantial safety, environmental, cultural, and compliance concerns that were not evaluated in the original approval.
