🚫 The Gondola Project Threatens Our Island
The proposed gondola project threatens Oʻahu’s natural beauty, cultural integrity, and community values. It would bring irreversible damage to one of our island’s most sacred and ecologically rich places—Mount Kaʻala. We believe there are better solutions that respect both the land and its people.
📣 Your Voice Matters!
Tell the Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) to halt the gondola project. It’s time to prioritize community voices, cultural preservation, and environmental stewardship.

🗣 Suggested Talking Points:
The project risks irreversible environmental damage to a sacred and ecologically sensitive area.
Developers estimate 700 tourists and 1,600 additional vehicles per day, overwhelming local infrastructure.
A parking lot for over 300 cars and a new entrance off the hazardous Kaukonahua Road raises serious safety concerns.
Construction would disrupt indigenous plant habitats, some of which are already endangered.
The project shows disregard for local customs, burial grounds, and sacred cultural sites.
There has been no Environmental Impact Statement and no meaningful community input despite the project’s scale.
Transparency, accountability, and authentic community engagement must be required before moving forward.
Tourism infrastructure should reflect sustainability, cultural respect, and local control—not unchecked expansion.
Let’s protect what makes Oʻahu special.
Mahalo for speaking up and standing together. Our voices matter—and together, we can protect Mount Kaʻala.
